For many Indigenous peoples, cedar is revered as one of the most sacred ceremonial herbs. Often called the “Evergreen of Life,” it is offered to the Spirit World to strengthen prayers, bless and consecrate, and open pathways to spiritual vision.
A plant that has supported the survival of communities for millennia, cedar stands as a powerful symbol of strength, renewal, and protection. In smudging rituals, it serves as a trusted ally—cleansing spaces of stagnant or negative energies and preparing them for healing and ceremony. The rising cedar smoke is believed to carry prayers to the spiritual realm, uniting heaven and earth.
This ceremonial cedar powder is a finely ground, high-quality form of cedar. Harvested with care and respect, it carries a rich, earthy aroma and is valued for its purifying and grounding properties. This premium grade powder is often burned as incense, used in smudging ceremonies, or added to sacred blends to promote protection, clarity, and connection to nature.
How to Use
As A Smudging Agent: Using a recipient such as a copaleiro or cauldron, place a generous pinch of ground powder upon a burning charcoal to let the smoke burn. Smudge your entire home, office, car, or sacred space. You can use feathers or a bundle of fresh herbs to disperse the smoke, bringing blessings and offering prayers.
Cedar Tea: Place 1 tsp of cedar powder in a fine mesh strainer or a compostable tea bag inside a cup. Pour 8 oz of boiling water and let step for 5-7 minutes. Add sweetener of choice and enjoy.
Plant Bath: Add 1 tbs of cedar powder to your bathtub and enjoy. Alternatively, make a large pot of cedar tea and pour over the body, letting air dry to allow the medicine to seep into pores.
